Neurodiverse and ARFID
I have a wealth of experience working with children and young adults with neurodiversity. I regularly hear in my clinics that I have been the first person to understand their child and their feeding behaviours.
I can provide individual support with any associated feeding diffficulties, for example:
Helping children who have difficulties with sensory processing.
Some children might be very senstive to the textures of foods, temperature, taste or the environment around them when they are eating. We can look at ways of adapting foods or the environment to make the 'overload' on the senses more managable and eating more enjoyable.
Some children might have very restricted diets.
This can be due to their senses or other factors such as fear of trying new foods, strong preference for foods which look the same/preference for certain brands of foods etc.
ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Eating Disorder)
In some instances selective eating might be more extreme, for example in children with ARFID. Your child might already be diagnosed with ARFID or you might need help in finding out more about this condition.
